creative it list: yoshitaka amano
At one point during high school, I wished I had the hands of Yoshitaka Amano. Amano is a Japanese illustrator whose body of work reaches across several genres including anime (Tori no Uta, Vampire Hunter D, Angel’s Egg), video games (Final Fantasy), illustrations, and paintings. He has also collaborated with writers illustrating pieces like Hideyuki Kikuchi’s “Vampire Hunter D” and Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman: The Dream Hunters.”

His illustrations are ghastly but enchanting - unique, ethereal, and surreal. He mixes rich colours and textures with melancholic features - unique facial characteristics depicting an almost other-worldly feel. A man with colossal imagination, he brings to life visions most people only see in their dreams. His illustrations are alluringly bizarre and almost supernatural in the most seductive way.
He is in his own right, a god and a genius.
