SNOW WHITE and the EVIL QUEEN. As a kid, I had a couple of storybooks given to me by my parents. I found fairy tales fascinating growing up. And no, not because I wanted to be a princess and be whisked away by a prince. Blame it on my visual and photographic memory, I like the way the stories unfold as I imagine them in my head.
One of the stories I absolutely love is Snow White. So it doesn’t come as a surprise when I found myself doing my version of the story. As you may have noticed, it’s modern and a little bit high fashion (crossing fingers that it fits the bill of the latter). Normally, I’d take the storybook route and re-create a scene from the story. But after a light bulb moment, I scraped the entire idea and made this instead.
Let me quote a friend the first time she saw the Snow White and Evil Queen illustration…

“How could you NOT include shoes?? That’s just wrong.”

When I showed it to her, I was still sort of trying to figure out what kind of shoes to include. After about an hour or so of browsing fashion pages online for inspiration, I did Versace Spring 2012 for the Evil Queen and Burberry Prorsum 2012 for Snow White. I’m thinking of maybe remaking Cinderella next. :)
